📌 Background

The Ministry of Finance – North East State seeks a qualified, results-oriented Budget Performance Officer to monitor, analyze, and evaluate government budget execution, ensuring alignment with fiscal policies and development priorities.

📌 Duties & Responsibilities

  • Monitor implementation of annual and supplementary budgets across government entities.

  • Review expenditure performance reports and ensure compliance with approved allocations.

  • Analyze budget variances and prepare performance evaluation reports.

  • Assist in developing KPIs for tracking government spending efficiency.

  • Coordinate with line ministries and public entities to gather financial data.

  • Support budget revisions and mid-year expenditure reviews.

  • Provide technical advice to improve budget execution and reporting.

  • Prepare quarterly and annual budget performance reports for the Director of Budget.

  • Stay updated on public financial management reforms and best practices.

📌 Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field.

  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in budget planning, analysis, or public financial management.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and financial management systems.

  • Excellent communication, report-writing, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively under tight deadlines.

  • High integrity and commitment to public service values.
